The biggest week in New Zealand racing will this year be broadcast live on Youtube with the launch of a new look TAB NZ channel.
This Saturday the Trackside team will bring racing fans live and uninterrupted coverage of the Vodafone New Zealand Derby from Ellerslie.
Streaming starts at 4pm and Brendan Popplewell, Bevan Sweeney, Aidan Rodley and Emily Bosson will provide all of the build-up to the great race, including pre and post race interviews and analysis.
New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) General Manager of Media and Content Andy Kydd says this is the first example of what is possible under NZRB’s new, non exclusive, broadcasting agreement with SKY.
“We’ve heard from our customers and the industry that they want to see more of the colour of our premier race days, so we’re excited to be able to present one of New Zealand’s iconic races in a different format while still being able to deliver Trackside in a way that services our core wagering business,” says Kydd.
Similar plans are in place for Auckland Cup Day a week later and long-term the TAB NZ YouTube channel will be a destination for all things racing in New Zealand; providing exclusive content, shows, replays and tips.
“At this stage the plan is to trial it over two days during Auckland Cup Week, followed by the Harness Jewels. We will then take some time to listen to our punters and analyse the benefits of the new format to ensure it’s working for our wagering audience. Then we can put a plan in place for next season,” says Kydd.
